Terms of Service

Last updated · June 2026

These terms govern your use of Bearing, a web analytics service operated by Sidecar (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

The service

Bearing provides privacy-first website analytics. Bearing is under active development; features may change, and parts of the service may be offered on an early-access basis.

Your account

  • You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
  • You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

Acceptable use

  • Only add and track websites that you own or have permission to track.
  • You are the data controller for analytics on your sites. You must comply with applicable laws, including disclosing your use of analytics and obtaining any consent the law requires.
  • Do not send personal data or other sensitive information through custom event properties.
  • Do not use Bearing for unlawful purposes, to infringe others’ rights, or to disrupt, overload, or probe the service or its infrastructure.

Plans and billing

Bearing offers free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis at the rates shown when you subscribe; plan limits apply. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. We may change plans and pricing with notice. Paid billing may be in setup, in which case upgrades may be unavailable.

Your data

You retain ownership of the analytics data collected for your sites. We process it to provide the service and in line with our Privacy Policy. Bearing and its software, design, and trademarks remain ours.

Availability and disclaimer

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using Bearing and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or to protect the service. On termination, your right to use the service ends and associated data may be deleted.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above; continued use means you accept the updated terms.
